life takes an unexpected turn when she meets and impulsively marries Vanya,
the impetuous son of a Russian billionaire. However, when Vanya's parents
catch wind of the union, they send their henchmen to annul the marriage,
setting off a wild chase through the streets of New York. A modern take on a Cinderalla story, Anora is smart, hilarious, fun,
outrageous, touching and heart-wrenching experience featuring an outstanding,
star-making performance from Mikey Madison. Rated 18A (frequent coarse lang,
sexually suggestive scenes) 2hrs20 |
THE RETURN After 20 years away, Odysseus washes
up on the shores of Ithaca, haggard and unrecognizable. The King has returned
from the Trojan War, but much has changed in his kingdom. His beloved wife
Penelope is a prisoner in her own home, hounded by suitors vying to be king.
Odysseus has also changed--scarred by his experience of the Trojan war, but
he must rediscover his strength in order to win back
all that he has lost. A riveting, poignant and an absorbing reimagining of
Homer’s Odyssey. Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche are superb in this third
reunion of the actors. |
BLUE RODEO: LOST TOGETHER Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor’s
fortuitous high school meeting that led to a lifelong brotherhood and Blue
Rodeo’s emergence over the past four decades as one of this country’s most
beloved bands. Theirs is a tale of determination, success and 40 years of enduring
friendships. An illuminating documentary, Blue Rodeo: Lost Together is a
treat, and an arguably long overdue survey of one of Canada’s most iconic
bands. |

Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl Gromit's
concern that Wallace is becoming too dependent on his inventions proves
justified, when Wallace invents a "smart" gnome that seems to
develop a mind of its own. When it emerges that a vengeful figure from the
past might be masterminding things, it falls to Gromit to battle sinister
forces and save his master. Wallace
& Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl' is supremely sincere, warmly witty, and
